It's Time To Do It, There's No Time Left

Better three hours too soon than a minute too late.--William Shakespeare

First, the disclaimer. I write this post while drinking an adult beverage so continue at your own peril. Actually, I don't get drunk. I drink only with food. I don't drink hard liquor. I think wine was made for food and beer is a great compliment to the right types of food. In any event, I'm unaffected but disclaimers are good for the soul.

After my big August, I'm having a slow start to September. Granted we are only 2 days in but I averaged nearly 7 miles per run then. As of today, I have an average of 2.7 miles per run. Oddly enough, I'm okay with that. After my strong finish at the end of the month I felt a little beaten up. I had a few little nagging injuries that aren't serious but enough to mention to a captive audience I guess. I had no desire to take days off though. I didn't want to lay around nursing minor injuries when I could be doing what brings me great joy. So I dialed it back yesterday and today was just a really quick mile and a half. When I do short runs like that the primary goal really is to get out there and sweat a little. I love to get my legs moving and zone out.

I wasn't sure how long I would go for but I knew that some of the folks that were supposed to run with me had other things come up. Normally I run in the mornings and on Wednesdays I run with the club but I didn't feel great this morning so my only run would be this evening. I decided that I needed to do something so I ran up a hill for 3/4 of a mile and then back down. I have a 4 song playlist called Vengeance that I listen to on really short runs. It's a couple of angry, trash-talking, redemption songs that help me get up the hill.
